While 48 states allow online gambling, several others do not. Hawaii, for example, is a religiously conservative state. Residents of Hawaii do not allow gambling on their land. In the United States, the federal government has settled cases against online gaming sites that accepted money for marketing their virtual gambling operations.<\/p>\n<p>Legitimate online gambling sites must have licences from government-owned gambling authorities. These authorities oversee and regulate online gambling websites. The licences from these authorities prove that the casinos have met certain criteria. Consequently, it is important to play only on legitimate online casinos. Checking for licences is a great way to protect yourself from unreputable gambling sites. Look for websites from reputable gaming authorities such as the iGaming Ontario, Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Malta Gaming Authority, and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Online gambling sites require a computer with an internet connection. Most of these sites only support PCs running on Windows operating systems. However, some sites are now available for Mac users. They can also be accessed through mobile devices. The software that powers these sites helps users place bets and play games.
